Head of Production

Location: London (near King's Cross) | Hybrid

Position Overview

The Head of Production at Super Rare Games will be responsible for overseeing the entire production pipeline of our video game development projects. This leadership role requires managing cross-functional teams, ensuring deadlines are met, budgets are maintained, and creative and technical processes run smoothly. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing video game production and demonstrate strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities: 

Team Leadership:  

  • Lead and manage a production team of producers and QA specialists, providing mentorship and strategic direction to ensure efficient production processes.
  • Oversee the end-to-end production of 2-3 game titles, driving project timelines, maintaining quality, and controlling budgets.

New Title Development:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to evaluate and secure new game titles, enhancing our portfolio's relevance and strength.
  • Spearhead the due diligence and approval processes for new titles, guiding projects through the amber/green light stages to secure board approval.

Cross-Departmental Coordination:

  • Act as the primary liaison between production and marketing teams, ensuring alignment on project deliverables and marketing strategies.
  • Facilitate communication across development, marketing, and publishing teams to align on goals, deadlines, and expectations.

Resource and Risk Management:

  • Manage resource allocation (time, personnel, budget) across multiple projects, balancing competing priorities to ensure smooth progress.
  • Identify and mitigate risks throughout the production cycle, establishing contingency plans to address potential challenges.

Budget and Milestone Oversight:

  • Collaborate with finance teams to develop and monitor production budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Set and track production milestones, proactively resolving bottlenecks or delays to meet deadlines.

Process Improvement and Reporting:

  • Continuously assess production processes for efficiency, implementing improvements to enhance communication and product quality.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management and the board on project progress, risks, successes, and budget performance.

Developer And Partner Management:

  • Manage relationships with external developers and partners, ensuring that outsourced projects meet company standards and timelines.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in video game production management.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.

  • Exceptional organisational and time-management abilities in order to prioritise and triage tasks to adapt to a constantly changing work flow.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to report upwardly to the board and across the team.

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

  • Experience managing budgets, timelines, and multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

  • Strong relationship and management skills to foster strong collaborations with external developers and the team

Location & Work Setup:

This is a full-time, hybrid role based in London (near King’s Cross). We work in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with remote work on Wednesday and Friday.
